Judith Allen-Efstathiou
lives six months of each year in Athens, Greece and six months in Portland,
Maine. Her commute between cultures informs her work and may explain her
interest in what people carry with them from place to place (Contents
of Her Handbags series). Her concern for the environment and interest
in the work of women are both reflected in her hybrid paintings: The Healers.
Recently she has embarked on a series of collaborative Dialogue projects
with women in Oasis Siwa, Egypt and women inmates at Koridalos prison
Athens, Greece. This interest in collaboration has also led her to collaborative
work with Eirene Efstathiou: on a commission, an exhibition and this web
site. A graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Judith
exhibits her work in Greece and the United States and has participated
in over 30 international printmaking biennials around the world.
